Digital Technology Disrupts Talent Acquisition

29 April 2021

Enterprises struggle to meet current technology staffing demands

Would you give a hammer to a painter? Of course not. Yet, many organizations now find themselves with technology staff skilled in cobbling together legacy, premises based solutions. What they need are painters, individuals capable of working with the latest digital tools. To make the transition from the old to the new, they must find a talent acquisitor partner, one tightly connected to the global talent pool of next generation business and technology leaders.

The high tech market has been moving at a breakneck pace. A bevy of solutions coalesced that have the potential to empower organizations to remove the friction that has traditionally dogged legacy systems and respond to customer demands in real time. The list of new technologies is long, and their growth is transforming how organizations in virtually every industry use their computer systems.

A Plethora of Hot Markets

  • Cloud: the worldwide public cloud market grew 26.0% year over year in 2019 with revenues totaling $233.4 billion, according to International Data Corporation (IDC).
  • Big Data and Analytics: revenue is expected to increase from $46.9 billion in 2019 and reach $183.62 billion by 2027, a CAGR (Compound Annual Growth Rate) of 18.68%, per Inkwood Research.
  • Artificial Intelligence: global spending on artificial intelligence is forecast to double over the next four years, moving from $50.1 billion in 2020 to more than $110 billion in 2024, a CAGR of 20.1%, as stated by IDC

  • Blockchain: sales reached $09 billion in 2019 and are expected to rise to $69.04 billion in 2027, a CAGR of 56.1%, according to Fortune Business Insights.
  • CRM: Grandview Research found that the global Customer Relationship Management (CRM) market was valued at $40.2 billion in 2019 and is expected to expand at a CAGR of 14.2% from 2020 to 2027 and reach $116.7 billion.

Job Openings Abound

Companies need to quickly assimilate these technologies into their organization. They can easily purchase them from a variety of suppliers. The challenge with digital transformation revolves more around personnel management than technology purchase implementations.

Enterprises need both individuals to keep their legacy systems running and add help to get the new solutions up.  The current demands are unprecedented. Globally from 2015 to 2020, organizations created 647,352 data analytics/data science positions, 268,762 artificial intelligence jobs, and 68,673 RPA titles, according to Gartner.

Companies are not equipped to handle such a sudden, dramatic personnel influx. They do not have the time, expertise, focus, or manpower to fill their many open positions. They need help cultivating the right talent ASAP.

Traditional personnel third parties still concentrate on securing talent for legacy systems, so where can you turn? Organizations must identify and invest in the right partner, a next generation talent supplier, one able to identify, attract, recruit, and retain individuals skilled in the broad suite of the latest digital technologies.
